Moving on up or moving on out? Yesterday I talked about us perhaps having our own apartment within the same house that we are living in. So we started painting and that turned into a nightmare. Wrong colors, ugly colors, $80.00 thrown out the window…

But, S. found something out that changes things a bit. You see, he was supposed to go for a third interview with a company that had pretty much hand picked him. The interview should’ve been some two weeks ago but they never called and we were starting to get curious as to why, seeing as how they had basically offered him a job when they recruited him. Well, he learned that his current company was blocking him! One of the higher ups had called and told the other company not to interview him. The reason, he later found out, is that the boss man is worried because they still need him for the construction of a supermarket they are working on now. He was SO furious that they went behind his back to do that. And the worst thing of all is that he was planning on staying to finish out the construction anyways. He had already promised that he would give a month or more’s notice depending on the finish date of the grocery store. So anyways, he made a few phone calls and told the company that’s recruiting him to continue on with the process…it’s not his current company’s place to decide what should be his next career move.

Today the new company called and he has an interview on Friday. Thank goodness that all got straightened out. I was furious, seriously, steaming mad. That’s so backhanded and shady.

But now that the next steps of the interview will be happening soon we don’t want to keep painting because there’s a chance that we will be sent to a city outside Santiago (YAY!). So again, do I need to reiterate $80 bucks worth of paint thrown away. I might just use the paint to make a cafe con leche colored swimming pool so it doesn’t go to waste.

  2. GL with the job and possible move. I HATE painting. Not so much the painting, but the picking colors. I totally suck at it.

  3. Man…that's crummy about the job thing…I can't believe companies today…it makes me shake my head in wonder…And wrong wall colors make it so much easier to move away from a place, don't they?

  5. I would be steamed too. I can’t imagine a company I worked for blocking a job, but I never give them a chance to. I’m always afraid they’ll fire me for looking. :P

Cafe con leche sounds yummy! Too bad you can’t make it into a drink. ;)

  7. I hate that. when you get a “good” color and then to looks like crap or the people didn’t mix things properly. Good luck with the possible job move!
