rose for no reason small

On Friday S. got me a rose, just because. He makes me so happy :)

Good thing he’s around, otherwise I think the little things would be getting me down about now. Our hot water has been off for three days now. Yep, that’s right, I have not showered in 3 days and I feel disgusting. I did wash my hair in the faucet, though. It felt like dipping my brain in ice.

The reason the hot water is off is because there’s a gas leak in the building, on my floor coincidentally. On Friday afternoon our whole apartment started to smell like gas. I wanted to take a nap but I was too scared I wouldn’t wake up! Excitement, I know. Anyways, the leak still hasn’t been fixed because the building administration is oh so competent.

But, we put gas leaks aside, heated the apartment with the oven, and had a couple friends over for an impromptu drinking session. We stayed up until 7 in the morning! I slept in until 6:30…PM today. Ahhh, nursing a hangover, can’t take a shower…can’t say this has been my favorite lazy Sunday ever.

  1. I know the feeling girl, the power of a single spontanously given flower on an otherwise normal day is enough to make you fall in love all over again, like on the first day.

Gorgeous rose and even prettier picture of it!

    Fned.
P.S. Hope the hot water strike ends soon. I wont even wash my hands if the water is not steaming! (not good for the joints, I know, but oh well…)

  4. Maybe you could heat some water in the microwave and at least give yourself a hot sponge bath!

  6. I think bathing in a bucket is highly underrated. Living without hot water for several years (although definitely not in a cooler clime like Santiago), I got used to heating water on the stove, pouring it into a bucket with cold water. We’d use everything from gourds to plastic cups to pour the water over us.

I actually got to like it, although it’s definitely more time consuming than turning the hot water on.

When we had no hot water for a couple of weeks during a New England winter, everyone in the apartment building was dirty and bitchy. I was nice and clean and had lots of bath time moments that reminded me of living in Mexico!
