Take a look at this site: www.nectar.ca. They provide education software for mathematics and home licenses are $24.95

I'm not sure Michelle. Since I haven't been able to find a volunteer yet, that's my next step. I'm going to put something up on Needish.com today to find out.

Hey there, I got your post on my blog about needing a math tutor. It sounds like a great thing that you and your husband are doing, but as it turns out I am leaving Chile in about 6 weeks to start returning to the States...so between preparing to leave and then actually moving on, I don't think that I will be able to help out. But good luck with everything!

Puyuhuapi is in the south, on the Carretera Austral, somewhere between Coyhaique and Chaiten. It's lovely down there, but I think that you would have to wait till next year to go, as I've been told that it's really only worth it during the summer when the weather is enjoyable.

Take care!

It's not ignorance to now know the school system of another country!

No, public schools here are for the most, horrendous. There is one famous public school where many of Chile's leaders attended, but that is hands down, the exception to the rule. Public schools, much like in the U.S. are funded locally. Marcelo is from a poor neighborhood, meaning the school in that neighborhood was really bad.

He's also been out of school for I think 5 years. He graduated from a "technical high school," meaning not even as a good as a regular public high school, and started working when he was 18. So I think he needs some refreshing. :)
