No, I unfortunately don’t have any pictures of me getting run over. Nor do I have pictures of my lifeless body flying 20 meters through the air or my head on the pavement bleeding everywhere.

However, I do have a couple shots of me at the hospital. Not nearly as exciting, I know.

This is me the day they started letting me use the computer. MISTAAAAAAAKE:

My last day at the Clinica Santa Maria:

You can still see a little bit of my black eye. And my hair looks like that in part because the nurses blow dried it and didn’t know how to style short hair and in part because there’s blood crusted in my hair cut. EW.

Please don’t judge me for the sweatpants and flip flops. I can’t wear tight clothes on my knees right now and my toes are so bruised I can’t wear closed toed shoes either.

The bruise looked MUCH worse in person. My leg was green and bruised down to my ankle.

  3. Bones heal and chicks dig scars… Which may not be what you want to attract. :)

    Glad you're OK.

  5. Kyle,

I was going to get after Seba for not taking pictures. He had several gross pics taken of Rita within minutes of her fall. You do look in a lot of pain. The knee photo looks EXTREMELY painful.

    Get Well Soon,
    Tim

  8. Holy crap!!!!!! You look like death! (No offense, but I mean you WERE actually hit by a car.)

Now when people say, “I feel like I've been hit by a bus.” You can be like, “Oh really, are you sure, cause I HAVE.”

At least your hair still looks cute!!! :)

  9. Ouch ouch ouch ouch ouch. And these don't depict the pain you must have felt all over . . .you can't quite capture that in a photo. So glad you are alive. Did you get stitches in your hip or in your knee?

    Comment by Ritamae39 — June 9, 2009 @ 8:21 pm

  10. I agree with the “look like death” part, in the nicest/most concerned way possible. It's all very unsettling, especially the knee bruise/blood trickling shot. You look way more loopy than I could have imagined!

Did the car wheels actually go over your body? Is that what the bruise is from?!

  11. Hi Kyle

Not the nicest pictures of you. But you are so lucky, it could have been much worse :)

    Get well soon

  12. Dear God, I know you're a photographer and everything but I think I liked the story of being run over by a car better when I was more removed from it… I hope you're feeling better everyday and back to hating yourself for not running enough miles in a day in no time…

  13. Oh my goodness! You poor, poor thing!

    Looks so incredibly painful.

I hope you're starting to feel better now x

  14. Pobrecita!!! I wish I could jump through the pictures and give you a hug. Hope you're healing quickly? Lavender oil is really good for scars FYI. By the way, the flowers are really pretty. Did Seba give them to you? :)

  16. Gosh girl where's the shine in your eyes we usually see in your photos?
    Hope you heal soon!!!!
Hugs (not too tight so as not to cause any pain)

  17. wow, kyle. I'm thinking of coming down to santi in a week or so – would you take visitors? I'd love to shower you with attention!

    Comment by Allison — June 10, 2009 @ 6:55 am

  18. Hey Kyle. That is some significant trauma you have there. I'm very happy that you are ok. I'm sure you will recover quickly! You have more pictures to take! So I thought a shunt had been put in your head in picture number two. Then I realized it is cross juxtaposed in the background. My bad.

  19. Hahaha, I thought that this comment was offering to actually shower (as in bathe) you, since when you're in pain it can be difficult to do alone! Showering you with attention is probably less awkward :)

  20. *no words* to describe your pain. But, once again it is nice to post to you because you are alive! blowing an air “beso” since anything else may hurt. xxxxx kristi

  30. Mate! I am just reading all these posts from the links on your current blog entry… I have heard you mention that you were hit by a car but I have never read these posts!!?? Where was I in June 2009? No idea but I missed all this. You poor thing! That's so full on. I laughed a little when I saw the pics, you are so expressive! Your face says, I got hit by a car, am wearing a tracksuit, in a wheelchair and some random people blow dried my bloody hospital hair. Y Que? You want a smile? …Ok, I'll try.” That bloody knee is badass.
