Sebastian and Diana had an absolutely stunning wedding last weekend. The ceremony was held at a very old church in Santiago Centro, within walking distance of Club de la Union. If I’m correct, this place was built in 1864. 1864!!!! And it’s right off of Calle Nueva York, which is what I would say is one of the most historic/representative streets of old Santiago as well. It was really cool to be in a place with so much history behind it, making more history within it. I actually got chills listening to Sebastian’s brother give his toast when he talked about the Club being a place where their father had “walked through these very same doors many a time,” and how proud he would have been to have seen Sebastian and Diana together that day. The toast brought tears to my eyes. Brothers’ toasts really are the best. :)

It took me a little while longer than I wanted to get Diana and Sebastian’s photos ready for this post…on the day of their wedding I was still pretty gimpy from the accident, so I hired an extra shooter — meaning there were three of us for the big day — we were like a small photographer army. And I completely underestimated how many extra photos I was would have to go through and process!  But, a huge thank you to Gabriel Ortega (photos by him where noted) and of course, my husband as always, for coming along and running around to get the shots I was too slow to get, especially at the end of the night when knee decided it had had enough of this walking business.

Anyway, 3 photogs means even more photos than usual, so beware, this post is loooooong!

Sebastian plays the piano and they are so lucky to have one in their apartment, so I thought it would be cool to go with that theme for the details shots. These are hands down some of my favorite dress, shoes and bouquet shots I’ve ever done.

I was trying to get a profile silhouette shot of Diana, but just as I pressed the shutter she turned to answer her phone. I like this too. :) Like all brides, she was swamped with phone calls before the ceremony updating her on whether the guests were arriving, whether the groom was ready, what time she should get there…

I asked Gabriel to run across and grab some shots of the exterior of the church for me, isn’t it an amazing place?

And he also got this one (clearly, since I am in the photo, haha!) of the look on Sebastian’s face when he saw his bride pulling up. LOVE it!!!

In the mean time I was getting these of Diana and her Dad coming out of the old fashioned car. Even the driver was in character with his funny hat, it was so cool!

Gabriel also got this of Diana coming down the aisle. The frame within a frame with the back of the groom’s head really makes this shot for me!

The front row was the VIP Gringa section. Actually while we were outside taking photos some passersby asked Gabriel if someone famous was getting married. He said, “No, why?” and they said, “Because there are so many blond people at this wedding!” HAHA, that cracked me up!!!

I was trying to get down and get this shot but my knee wouldn’t bend. Gabriel saw what I was trying to do right away so he grabbed my camera and got this shot for me. What a lifesaver!

The priest was a pretty funny guy. Seriously, if you don’t believe me, see Exhibit A.

Sebastian was pretty emotional putting the ring on Diana’s hand.

And then I think he was a little embarrassed after the kiss. :)

Even in the midst of the craziness of the reception, they were able to grab a quiet moment together.

Elsewhere…(all below party shots by Gabriel, I was rendered basically useless by this point).

Diana and Sebastian were kind enough to give us tons of portrait time!!! They really wanted to take advantage of how scenic the area we were in was. Gabriel grabbed this one on the right of them walking, one on the left is mine.

One of my favorite shots of the night!!! (580ex II shot through an umbrella, for the photogs reading)

So romantic, love it.

This shot of Sebastian on the right is such a great portrait of him. He looks so relaxed and happy. I know that he really hates getting his picture taken. Diana said that even when he was little he hated the camera so his mom only has shots of him as a boy with his hands in front of his face hiding.

I think he was finally able to loosen up though, once the hard part of actually saying, “I do,” was out of the way. :)

Over dinner her friends were talking about what a natural elegance and grace Diana has to her and they couldn’t be more correct. She just looked lovely.

These last shots are my absolute favorites. This old elevator was so cool by itself, but the elevator man actually being in the shot really adds a lot!

And this was actually a mistake, right as I pushed the shutter button Mr. Sebastian took off and started walking towards Diana (probably to beg her to end the torture and let him get back to the reception, haha!) but it came out so awesome!

FAVORITE!!!!! There are no words. I asked Sebastian and Diana for serious faces in this shot and they rocked it. The way they look, combined with the old school feel of the decor, looking at this photo makes me feel like I’m in another world!

If you made it to the bottom of this post, thanks for looking. I think this is a new record for most photos in one blog entry. But I couldn’t help it, with three photographers there were too many good ones!

Diana and Sebastian, you made beautiful memories last Saturday, I really hope these photos do them justice. You two are such genuine and kind people. It made me incredibly happy to be there with you and see how much you love each other, and how much your friends and family love you too. Thank you guys so much for trusting me to capture your day and even be a part of it!

  • yay! this is lovely. I'm sure they're thrilled!

  • Seriously, these pictures brought tears to my eyes. I'm not a religious person, but this church is such a work of art--I would want to get married in it. My god, what beauty you and the others captured (despite being in pain)!!! Thanks for making me evening even more lovely.
  • I think I like the one on top of your favorite where he is walking towards her in the dark. It's beautiful.
