If you’ve been reading this blog, you probably already know that my little brother, Kelsey, is probably one of the people that I love that most in this world. And Lauron makes him ridiculously happy. So by default, I love her too — so much that I got her a double rainbow for her birthday (in case you missed it, check out the pics here)

I am loving on these last two photos so much!

First without flash:

I used to be one of those people who would say, “I’m a natural light photographer,” which is totally code for, “I have no clue how to use off camera lighting.” I’m SO glad and forever grateful to Gabriel, for teaching my how to use off-camera lighting. Without it, I could’ve never taken anything even close to as dramatic as the above picture. Some people don’t like a ton of off camera lighting because they think it looks unnatural. Maybe it does, but isn’t that the point? Sometimes pictures are capable of showing us things in ways that the human eye doesn’t see.

  1. Gorgeous, especially like you said the last 2! What a sweet 21st Bday present this was. I'm sure she'll treasure these photos forever. My younger bro is one of the loves of my life as well. :)

  2. yer welcome, kyle! Let's see if we can't work on some deceivingly natural-looking strobe work when you get back to Chile. :)

  4. Oooh, I like. And even though the last photo isn't natural, it's awesome! I think the trick is making the unnaturalness something that highlights the whole feeling of the photo rather than something that takes the focus away from the subject.
