Happy dieciocho to all of you out there in Chile-land!

Here was our most recent reminder of Chilito — this would have been better suited for a post on 11 de Septiembre but we hadn’t yet stumbled on the Plaza Salvador Allende in Paris, France. Someone had even taken the time to seek out the plaza and place wreaths on the signs, complete with little ajis.

We actually saw two Chilien (Chilean) restaurants in Paris as well, but we didn’t go in because A. Why would we eat Chilean food while we’re on vacation in Europe? And B. WHO WOULD EVER PAY 8 EUROS FOR AN EMPANADA?!? 8 Euros is about 6,000 Chilean pesos. I’m not sure how much empanadas cost this year for dieciocho but they’re normally anywhere from 600-1,000 pesos.
