This hilarious video about Italians versus the rest of Europe made me laugh so hard because just in the week and a half or so that we were there I observed a lot of these cultural differences — though fortunately not the beauracracy thing. But, after living in Chile, I can only imagine the situation in Italy!

Thanks so much to reader Erin for sending this my way!

  1. Haha. I saw a similar video about Europeans vs. Bulgarians. I obviously couldn't relate, but V. said it was spot on.

  4. That's great. So Italian, and yet so Chilean at the same time. I wonder if one for Spain would be similar?

  5. I like all their complicated coffee orders. It's endearing!

  6. so good!!! : and really funny – and to sara: no, the same woudn't be similar for Spain, because despite some endearing flaws, their bureaucracy is actually quite efficient and modern, they are done with three types of coffee: Café solo, Cortado y Cafe con leche and – at least – the Catalans love nothing more than an orderly queue. And they really do it most of the times: queues stretching around blocks or along a whole street (waiting in line at the cinema for example) are a common sight. If there is no queue they have the cute system to ask for the last one (El último?) even if it´s 10, 15 people around:

One thing though: They show every respect for traffic lights, traffic signs and pedestrians crossing, but not on a zebra crossing, here it´s either you or them! :)
