Last Saturday we took a train from Turin to Milan, then a bus from Milan to Berragamo, where we then took a 3 hour flight to Belgium. We then had to take a bus ride into Brussels and then a metro ride to get to our friend we were staying with. It was a 12 hour day.

Then Monday we took a train ride for an hour and a half to Brugge and then an hour and a half back.

The next day we trained it for three hours to Amsterdam where we stayed the night and then came back the next day on the train.

That leads us to Friday when we took a three hour train ride from Brussels to Luxembourg. We got to the city, walked around, and then hit the hay, exhausted.

Which brings us to today — we took a 7 hour train ride from Luxembourg to Geneva.

Tomorrow we have an 8.5 hour flight to NYC, where we then stay for 24 hours.

Only to have a 10 hour flight back to Chile on Monday night. We arrive home sweet home on Tuesday morning at 7am.

In case you’re counting, that’s 9 cities in 11 days.

I’m not complaining. This trip has been amazing. But right now I am on the verge of a break down from sheer exhaustion. We’re in the home stretch though and while I never thought I’d say this — I cannot wait to be back in Chile! :)

  1. I know what you mean! Traveling can be exhausting sometimes! My fiance and I did an 8 day trip to New York but we were staying with a friend in Princeton so every day we would take the 2 hour train to NY, and a 2 hour train back every night. We walked all day and tried to cram in as much as we could, getting back home at 1am and starting everything again at 6 or 7am! We even did a day trip to Washington DC and another to Philadelphia! By the end of the trip we needed a vacation from our vacation and were sooo ready to go home! Looking back I'm glad we got to do everything we did and see everything we wanted to see, but we realized the importance of having downtime in between all that running around. You need a couple days to just lounge around and recharge for sure!

  2. Wow! It has gone by so quickly. I am not surprised that you will be happy to be home. And once you are settled back in back here, you will be ready to be off again. What a wonderful trip. Thanks for sharing.

  3. Totally understand where you are coming from. My husband and I did a round-the-world in 2 months which was intense. It consisted of 17 flights, 15 cities, 2 hikes, 3 wonders of the world and lots and lots of walking. We were exhausted but it also made me realise jsut how much you can get done in a day when you want to.

  4. Hmm, makes my story of 4 hour drive yesterday, 4 hour drive today and 20 hour flight (including layovers) tomorrow sound like a piece of cake! Guess I should stop feeling so tired and just be thankful it's not more exhausting. I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOU!!!

Also, looks like my flight gets in half an hour before yours, so if the stars align to make my flight a bit late/yours a bit early I will be the person attacking you in baggage claim :)
