Here’s the continuation of Melissa and Nelson’s Trash the Dress session. They got fully into the water. HARDCORE.

All Melissa’s idea. All Seba’s shot. :)

An umbrella was such a good idea as a prop!

Their adorable dog Nimo wanted to be part of the fun too!

We hit the jackpot of morning sunlight. In the words of the ever wise, ever skinny Rachel Zoe, “I DIE.”

LOVE. That’s Nelson’s yellow tie by the way. It almost became a casualty of the ocean. :P

This is by far my favorite from the day. Melissa looks HOT. Lit with one off camera 580 exII, for the photographer gear nerds out there.

  8. Kyle, I am freaking out. These photos are fucking incredible. No other words. My coworkers agree. I want to hurry up and get married so we can do a trash the dress session – and after seeing these, I want to scratch my ideas of cool places in Santiago and go romp in the ocean! Melissa, you look incredible, total model. Nelson, you don't look half bad either :)

These are all officially my new favorite photos!

  11. No words. Totally just sitting in my apartment grinning. I have to agree with Emily, we look fab. SOOO glad we ultimately decided to do a trash the dress session. Kyle–you ROCK!

  12. WOW! What great shots, although I'm kind of sad to see such a pretty dress go.

  13. Don't worry. The dress cleaned up really well. After the session I carefully removed the lace layer from the dress to save it for my daughter in the future. Plus, I'm not the kind of woman who would keep the entire dress for 30 years just in case someone else might want to wear it.

  14. Mindblowingly awesome shots, Kyle! They're all incredible. I love the “Trash the Dress” idea. You rock and so do Melissa and Nelson and the little doggy. :D

  15. If there was a Fave button on your blog I'd be pressing it on this one. Fantastic work Kyle. You've truly elevated Melissa & Nelson to film star roles.

    Comment by Phillip Allen — November 18, 2009 @ 11:12 am

  16. Wow Kyle. I have no words. These are by far my favourites out of all your sessions. Just stunning. Considering I live right near you (El Quisco) and therefore right near the beach, it kind of makes me want to contemplate marriage just to get some pics taken :D Well, except the marriage freaks me out lol. Almost as much as clowns and the big, ass hairy spiders I keep coming across when I go to the almacen nearby…

Hmmm do you do doggie portraits? Of doggies that don't listen and can't be let off leash because they're not smart enough to know when they've got it good??

  17. Totally awesome. and what a cute puppy!

PS – Just got home and I'm looking into the slideshow prob.

  29. Lydia, I don't know if the weather has been similar in Valpo but we got SO lucky. For two days before it was overcast and looking like rain. Then we got sun on the day of their session and the day after…and the last couple days has been raining. Couldn't have been more perfect timing!

  30. So glad you decided that you DID want to drag the dress back out after all!!! I'm happy that you like them…all the other comments are wonderful and I'm grateful for them, but in the end, you are the one we want to please :)

  34. I only know one photographer who does dog portraits and that's because she's like a dog whisperer…http://portfolio.erinvey.com/ check out her site. She is incredible when it comes to photographing pooches! If I lived in the U.S. I would so take Papi to get her portraits taken, hahaha!

  35. Why thank you!

    Comment by kyleracine — November 18, 2009 @ 9:19 pm

  36. Thanks Jennette! I have heard of that website, I visited a lot before the shoot to look for inspiration :) The phenomenon is also HUGE in Eastern Europe so I'm always checking out these crazy Russian forums that have incredible TTD sessions.

Send me an email if you need anything regarding the slideshow issue. We leave for Argentina on Tuesday so after that we'll be MIA again for two weeks!
