We are so lucky. Another maternity session with another gorgeous family. Some women look uncomfortable during their pregnancy. But Barbara just looks…elegant, radiant, and above all else, happy. Not to mention that she has a good eye for photography. Before I could even finish a sentence she would do what I was about to ask her — Barbara can you…and she’d be tilting her head a little to the left.

And I think that I might be just as passionate about photographing maternity pictures as I am about photographing weddings. Because really, one of my favorite things about photographing weddings is that, above all else, they are intense. The emotions are intense, the love is intense, the air is electric. A maternity session is similar — albeit, at a slightly slower pace. But during so many moments, I saw in Ignacio’s face when he looked at Barbara, the same awe and crushing happiness that I see in a groom’s face when he sees his bride for the first time. And I could hear the incredible tenderness in Barbara’s voice when she talked about holding her little one in just a few weeks. It was intense — and I loved it.

Ignacio is Felipe’s brother — Felipe and Lucie are one of our 2010 couples, and I always feel like it’s such an huge sign of trust when someone recommends us to their own family members, so thank you Lucie!.

Lucie!.

They are so happy together — and CALM! It kind of amazed me how serene they both were with their baby coming so soon!

Oh no we didn’t. Oh yes we did. Heart on the belly. I know that some people think this is overdone, but I think it’s kind of adorable. And we tilt-shifted this heart on belly bad boy, so that’s our twist :)

Barbara had seen lots of our work before, and at one point when Ignacio thought he was making a funny face she said, “Don’t worry, Kyle likes headless pictures, your face is probably not even in this!” Haha, and she was right. I swear she read my mind throughout the entire session.

Seba took these next two photos because he knows that I adore this style and I love how they came out. Look! Even with one eye you can see how much they love each other!

  1. Gorgeous! I so wish I'd had photos like this when I was pregnant – so soft, so romantic, so intense. Love! (although I was the size of a house, so perhaps not)
I especially love the bokeh balls under the bump picture, and the 3rd image, where they're giggling. Stunning work.

The photos give you this feeling that they're both so ready to be parents and are so patient and calm as they wait to meet their little bundle of joyI especially love the setting! I would have never thought to do it there! Now Im thinking I want to do a shoot there too ha ha! I love how it has a magical garden type feel to it with all the glowing light and lush greenery.
