Let me start by saying, that you if you hire me for your photography and then don’t do any of these things at your wedding — I won’t be mad :) I just get lots of random emails from people wondering what I think about X aspect of their wedding. So I thought it might be good to start occasionally putting some tips out for the brides who read the blog! But really, if you don’t do any of it, we can always make it work!

Tip #1: Get ready in front of a window!

Dato #1: Hazte lista frente de una venanta!

Natural light is better for the makeup artist — that way you can make sure she won’t make you look like a clown. And window light is usually great for photos too — see below. Fluorescent bathroom lighting is a little less romantic!

  1. I think we can manage that at the winery where we're getting married… oh right, except the jerks need to call me back first … :o ) Oh the chasing!

  2. This is a great tip. I also tell brides that they need to overestimate how much time they'll need to get ready. One bride told me she could totally have her hair and makeup ready in less than an hour. I had to go, um. Let's plan for more than that.

  7. Haha, that's actually in draft for one of my next tip for bride's post. Although at the wedding I shot yesterday, the bride came back from her hair salon appt. and said, “Ok, I need five minutes to get ready,”and she didn't have her makeup done or any of her dress or accessories on yet. I and was like, ok, someone's delirious…and then she really WAS ready in 5. It was amazing.

  11. That last shot is atmospheric. Niiice. I also like the shot where you are shooting through glass. Clean and cool
