Post by Seba (about our new dog) below, my notes at the end of the post:
That’s right. As some of you know, we have a new puppy, and his name is Machasa.
But what you might not know is how this dog, 100% mutt, came to find his place in our home. What happened is that last week, we were near the Machasa factory, waiting for a friend. We were sitting in the car outside the factory door, when out of the factory across the street, comes a little puppy through the fence — well, I shouldn’t say a puppy, more like a pile of bones with feet. He looked terrible.
So, I started watching, as soon as he came out onto the sidewalk, observing the situation. He would follow anyone who walked by some 50 meters and then go back to the factory. He started eating some rotten fruit that had fallen from a tree and then he sat down to wait again. While we were both waiting for something to happen (the dog and myself) we made eye contact (and yes, it is possible to make eye contact with a dog). He wagged his tale and dared to try and cross the street. In spite of being a mutt, he’s still a puppy, so he didn’t even look before crossing the street (you’ll notice that Chilean mutts know to look both ways before crossing the street). He almost got hit by a car. *Just like his future puppy mother!
He didn’t get down, he just waited a while and then tried again — same end result. So he tried to go back in the factory and the guard kicked him back out through the fence again. Finally, he tried to cross the street one more time. This time I saw that he was about to get hit again so I yelled, “Get out of the way mother trucker, move, move!” Worse yet, he just came to a stop in the middle of the street. Luckily the car stopped and went around. After that, Kyle and I thought, if we leave him here, he dies. So we put him in the car and brought him home (after a few hours of driving around in our trunk).
We brought him to the vet the next day — possible distemper, we had to watch for parvovirus, he was malnourished and his bones hadn’t calcified so his little legs would shake if he stood up for much time on them.
To make a long story short, after a couple vaccinations, a few vitamins, flea removal, anti-parasite medicine and eating chicken breast for the last five days, he’s now doing much better. He’s still skin and bones, but he runs around and plays, sleeps like a baby and even has the energy to try and take Papi’s food from her.
So with no futher ado, I’ll leave you with some pictures of Machasa.

Papi’s MAD!

I already love him with all my little heart, but I know we really can’t keep another dog. Trying to figure out our crazy travel plans with one puppy is hard enough. So if anyone knows of a anyone wanting an adorable dog, please contact me. I would be so happy to see him go to a home that will love him and treat him right after his rough start in life.

Emily and Rodolfo are two of our best friends in the whole world. I think anyone who reads this blog regularly probably already knows that. Aside from the fact that she hired us to shoot her wedding, I am also a bridesmaid! Emily once said something along the lines, I can’t expect anyone to be as excited about my own wedding as I am. Ahem. If anyone comes even close to being as thrilled as the bride herself, I think it’s me.
I absolutely cannot WAIT for March 6th to roll around!
I loved photographing Emily and Rodolfo’s official engagement session. Obviously they’re ridiculously hot, but aside from that, they are also fun, natural models and have great style. Can I just say it one more time? Yes? Ahhhh, I am so excited for their wedding!!!

Seba took this killer shot and I’m a tiny bit obsessed with it. It’s like Emily and Rodolfo just go to the park and sit around, looking hot, because you know, that’s what they do.

Tilt shift always adds a little extra something to photos. Seba always rocks that lens. Well I occasionally do to, but I can’t rock it as hard as he can

See? I told you. Here they are just laying around being hot again.
Ven? Les dije. Aca estan flojeando y viendose bien denuevo

FAVE. Love, love, loooooooove both these sets of our take on see no evil, speak no evil, hear no evil. Emily and Rodolfo were perfect for this. I knew I could count on them to make it look non-cheesy and totally cool!
Favorita.

There are many wonderful perks to this job as a wedding photographer, but one of my absolute favorites things is that we have the opportunity to meet some really cool people. These are our first Aussie clients! We met up with Jackie and Andrew to do an engagement session for them. She’s also the woman behind the business that had the Amazon Cruise contest we won, so I felt pressure to do an extra good job on the photos.
Seba and I really hit it off with Andrew and Jackie. Or maybe I should I hit it off with them because I’m pretty sure Seba said a grand total of two words. He’s always the quiet one during sessions but this time since we were all speaking English, and on top of that their accent from down under is harder for him to understand, he was extra shy. But when all was said and done we had a really good time taking some pretty pictures in Providencia! Actually, it was so fun, that afterward, I was actually sad — Jackie and Andrew are leaving to go back to Australia in just a few weeks and I wish we had met them two years ago when they first got here.
This sculpture is new — and by new I mean, I hadn’t seen it before, which isn’t saying anything. I haven’t been to the park in over a year. But I loved the metallic bars for photos, I could’ve shot the entire session there, it was so cool!

This is a definite favorite. Jackie and Andrew were super natural in front of the camera and they just look happy together in every shot. Not hard to photograph at all

The Dr. Seuss tree in the background is so cool!
El arbol en el fondo es increible!

Seba busted out the 17-40mm for this one to get the super wide shot from the inside of these yellow statue thingys. LOVE how it turned it!

We’ve been starting to use our 85mm lens more for sessions. Seba always uses it during wedding ceremonies to get nice and up close shots in the churches or wherever, but we rarely take it out of the camera bag during a session. However, we decided that it’s such a great lens, it needs to see more action. Case in point — 2 photos below that Seba also took. He’s my little 85mm Jedi master.

Then I asked Seba if he minded climbing up this thing to grab this shot that I wanted. I’m wasn’t quite tall enough to get up there.

So while he was shooting that, I stole the 85mm and grabbed this. The lens is MAGIC, I swear. Look how beautiful and sharp Jackie and Andrew look while the background is pure gorgeous bokeh! If you’re a photographer reading this and you don’t have the 85mm, GET IT. It’s one of only 2 lenses we own that’s under 1k but it completely holds it’s own with our L lenses. This is my favorite, favorite FAVORITE!!! They look like models with the wind blowing in Jackie’s hair like that!
