I met Francisca just a few weeks ago. I liked her immediately. In a sea of sameness, she’s different. Everything about her is unique — the way she talks, the way she dresses, the way she views life, even the way she’s getting married. I love that. The fact that she chose us to be their wedding photographers thrills me.

I walked out of our meeting and started wondering about Francisca’s future husband. I had a hard time conceptualizing him. What kind of guy would possibly be cool and interesting enough to marry her?

But when she introduced us to Juan Pablo at our session yesterday, it was one of those moments where you see two people and you know beyond any shadow of a doubt that these were two people who were meant to be together.

We photographed at Santiago’s Cementerio General (general cemetery). I would have never thought to suggest this as a location for a shoot, but it was absolutely amazing!

I am of the personal opinion that Francisca looks particularly beautiful here and Juan Pablo looks particularly dashing. Yay or nay?

Si o no?

Animated gif. FUN! :)

There’s really no way I could even pick a favorite from this session because I love them all. But, gun to my head, I think it would be this:

No hay forma de que hubiera podido elejir mi foto favorita de esta sesion porque me encnatan todas. Pero, si fuera de visa o muerte, creo que seria esta:

Or the one on the right. LOOOOVE it.

O la que esta a la derecha. Me ENCANTA.

No, actually I think it’s this one that Seba took.

ARGH. I don’t know, I love them all!!!!

Argh. No se, me encantan todas!!!

  1. I love this session! It's amazing how it's not a location of gloom, there's so much life spilling out of that cemetery. And they are a gorgeous couple! Models, I swear!

  2. I'm a big fan of any cool cemetery. :) Love these! I think my favorite is where they are sitting up on the “balcony” type thingy, dangling their feet. And also the one in front of the blue door. Nice work, as always. :)

  3. Hi Kyle,
I often check out your blog and all your wonderful photography. Thanks for checking out Lindsey's blog too, it's so nice for you two to keep connected. Wish you were there to photograph that sweet, new baby! I loved the pictures last summer of Sarah & Tom's wedding–just gorgeous. Hope you're doing well! Julie Nash

  5. You seriously attract the MOST beautiful people to shoot, it's amazing!!! This couple *does* look so perfect for each other. I adore every.single.shot. But, if you had to put a gun to my head too, haha, I would say my fave is the one where he is kissing her neck…just gorgeous. This cemetery reminds me of some that I wandered around in in BsAs.

  8. My gut reaction to these photos is that I wish I were invited to their wedding – they just seem like cool, fun people who are going to throw one hell of a party! Suppose I'll have to settle for seeing it through your photos :)

  9. Fab couple! Looks like they were loving the camera. The composition of the photo of their heads from above is so stinkin' original. Love it.

  10. Wow, Kyle. Always outdoing yourself. I really love the one from above where their heads are together. Priceless.

  11. Hi,
I found your blog through Emily's equally compelling blog “Don't call me gringa” and I wanted to say that your photography and social observations are outstanding. I'm a Chilean currently living in NY, and in a bout of homesickness I started reading blogs of Americans in Chile. Why? because in a strange sort of way I obtain a clearer impression of my home country through the eyes of someone not born in Chile, this is because as you view our culture from a different perspective you can see things that is hard for us to see. I was hooked, reading your blog and experiences as well as reading the blogs of other expats in Chile. Congratulation by the way on having successfully made your living and business in Chile, it is obvious that you will excel in whatever you do. From what I've read here about your experiences in Chile, I'm impressed at both your determination and your good heart. Regards, Carlos.

  18. Damn. Kyle this is definitely one of your best sessions yet. I love these. The cemetery was a great location to work with. The couple was so comfortable and openly intimate and it shows through in all the photos. I love the tilt shift [of course ;-) ], especially number 01. The lighting is also just perfect and the composition is very creative.

  24. It really wasn't gloomy at all. Cemetery's are cool places. And full of history and life of those who've gone before us. I loved shooting there! Although you're right, that may have to do with the gorgeous couple more than anything else :)

  26. Hey Mrs. Nash!!! I love reading Lindsey's blog, that way I feel like I at least have a small inkling of what's going on in her life, despite the distance. Maybe someday I will finally have the chance to photograph her beautiful little family!

Thanks for stopping by to say hi :)

  34. Hi Carlos! Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. I agree, that it's really interesting to follow the blogs of foreigners living in your country. I read a couple expats living in the U.S. blog for the same reasons — I love hearing about their impressions of my home country.

Soooooo, I vote that you start a blog so I can now read about someone living my life but opposite :P

  46. AHHHH, I think you saying “Classic Kyle Hepp,” is the best compliment I've ever received since I am never sure if I have a consistent style…although I know what consistent style I would like to have — unique and quirky. So when I read that about #18 I scrolled up to see which photo you were talking about, with my fingers crossed that it was that one :)
