It wasn’t so long ago that Seba and I hired Mark Brooke Photography to do a photo session of us, as a gift to ourselves, because our wedding photos sucked. But, because I am a firm believer in the fact that a couple can’t have enough documentation of their love and their life, and because the marvelous Kip Beelman offered while he was in Chile, we got dolled up for another photo shoot.

Rodrigo, who did both Emily and Sarah’s hair and makeup for their weddings (and will be doing Andrea as well), came over to make me beautiful. He is AMAZING. I can’t speak highly enough about him. I love how he made all of us look lovely, but in a way that fit each individual style.

Photo above by Kip Beelman.

Seba grabbed a couple snapshots while Rodrigo was working his magic. I’m not normally such a fan of letting a camera within a five inch range of my face. Especially now that I’m 26 years old and I HAVE FINE LINES AROUND MY EYES AND MOUTH. I had never noticed that until right this minute. I hate the sun.

Anywho, makeup. Pretty pictures. Go!

Lt’s get a few things straight — I don’t look even close to like this on a daily basis, or even on a non-daily basis when I actually put effort into my appearance. Rodrigo is a freaking mago.

After I was all through with getting beautified, we headed to Barrio Yungay and the Peluqueria Francesa for our session. After getting shot, I decided that we should do this every year — if only to at least remind ourselves of how it feels to be in front of the camera. Reminder #1. I am incredibly awkward on the other side of the lens. Poor Kit. Poor Kayley and Kai who will be shooting a boudoir session of me in May. That’s bound to bring my camera-induced awkwardness to new levels.

Still no word from the bank on the loan situation. So for now I’m taking my mind off things with these pretty pictures of my pretty hair and makeup, and by working on a video of people who are far worse off than me.

This post is kind of all over the place, but I’m a little distracted right now. Hire Rodrigo. The end.

  1. Wow. You are stunning! Love all three shots – but I'm a total fan girl for black & white shots.

And just fyi: I still cannot apply fake eyelashes to save my soul. LOL!

  3. If you look so beautiful in these photos, you can't look half-bad on a daily basis! I hope your loan works out.

  5. I want Rodrigo to come live with me and make me pretty every day – the man is seriously good at what he does, plus he's just nice! You look gorgeous. That picture in the mirror to me looks like a perfect doll version of you, and I do not see these imaginary fine lines you're talking about.

  7. Sooooo pretty! An so cute in the mirror shot too. I love that eye make-up. I've never figured out how to apply eye make-up to make the most of my eyes. I'm so envious. Red rover, red rover, send Rodrigo right over!

  12. Kyle, you look absolutely radiant! Rodrigo may work magic, but he already had a beautiful woman to start with. I hope you receive good news regarding the mortgage.

  13. Your eyelashes are so long and gorgeous! I love the mirror shot. I always knew you with long hair but I really like your short hair. You are so beautiful, even without the mago!

  20. He's so good at what he does, I want him to make up ALL my brides from here on out. That should be an official rule. When you hire me, you have to hire Rodrigo!

  23. He did miracles with my hair, especially considering I have none! Poor little Seba did not get David Bowie eyes. And Rodrigo tried to curl his hair but it didn't work :P

  24. I am going to force myself to be in front of the camera at least once a year I think, just because every time I learn so much about how other photographers work!

  25. If anyone can do it, you guys can!

  26. Si y ademas de verdad yo creo que siendo fotografo es bueno cambiar de papel y intentar a posar y sentir lo que se siente un cliente frente del lente. Es raro, pero para mi vale la pena para poder aprender!
