I will never forget when I did a survey and one of the comments someone wrote was “You should get out of Providencia/Las Condes. There’s more to Santiago than that! Try coming to Estacion Central sometime!” Which is funny — because I live in Estacion Central. Here in Chile’s many people’s automatic assumption is that Gringas = Cuicas.

I’m going to post my list of where I’ve been in an effort to dispell the myth that gringas only live/interact within Las Condes/Providencia/Las Dehesa, etc. While I haven’t made any big undertakings like Leigh, to visit each comuna in Santiago, I still feel like I’ve covered a lot of ground.

- Cerrillos: Only driven through on the way to places.
- Cerro Navia: Got married at the registro civil of Cerro Navia and took some footage of earthquake damage there.
- Conchali: One of our beautiful brides got ready at her house in Conchali.
- El Bosque: One of our good friends live there. Before Seba and his friends started working we used to have asados there all the time. Most recently, it’s where I watched the U.S. v. Slovenia World Cup game.
- Estacion Central: Where I currently live. In total, I’ve spent about half of my six years in Chile living here.
- Huechuraba: Seba built a Tottus there. I went to go see it. I think I’ve also been to the Ciudad Empresarial there a time or two.
- Independencia: I’ve been there for a lot of things, most notably to deal with the Policia Internacional when trying to sort out visa crap.
- La Cisterna: Passed through, but I don’t think I’ve ever spent any actual time here.
- La Florida: I’ve been to Mall La Florida, Seba built a grocery store there, one of our good friends used to live there as well, etc. etc. etc.
- La Granja: Haha, one time we got really lost here coming home from the Vina Santa Rita!
- La Pintana: Same as above. We ended up driving through both La Granja and La Pintana accidentally after our photo session.
- La Reina: We’ve had lots of photo sessions here, photographed lots of gorgeous weddings at Terrazas de la Reina, have frequented the Jumbo there, visited Parque Intercomunal.
- Las Condes: I feel like most of my Las Condes experiences have to do with visiting friends and/or going out to eat there.
- Lo Barnechea: I used to play in a soccer league there, I’ve been to Mall La Dehesa, and have met up with clients there. I believe that the lovely Centro de Eventos, Santa Martina is considered to be part of this comuna as well.
- Lo Espejo: We’ve driven down Avenida Lo Espejo a thousand times but we generally don’t get out and play here.
- Lo Prado: Probably have driven through at some point, but I don’t think I’ve ever stopped there.
- Macul: I had classes there while I was on study abroad and know a couple people who live there.
- Maipu: The Jumbo we’ve been to most often is in Maipu. And Seba’s best friend’s parents live there.
- Nunoa: I had classes at Campus Oriente de la Catolica. And then of course, the Estadio Nacional to watch soccer games.
- Pedro Aguirre Cerda: Nada.
- Penalolen: What a coincidence, we just went and visited some our friends at their house there! Because they’re having a baby!
- Providencia: We lived in Providencia for two years.
- Pudahuel: Airport. Enough said.
- Puente Alto: I lived there when I was on study abroad as a high school student.
- Quilicura: Is Lampa in Quilicura? I’m not sure. If it is, then yes, I visited Seba’s work in Lampa once.
- Quinta Normal: Where we live in Estacion Central is right near the border with the Quinta Normal comuna. Actually I think part of Will and Anita’s photo session might have been in Quinta Normal.
- Recoleta: Most notably, we photographed a wedding at Iglesia Los Dominicos de Recoleta.
- Renca: Nada
- San Bernardo: Seba built a mall there. I went and saw it.
- San Joaquin: Nada except driving through.
- San Miguel: Another friend lived there. We used to go to his house to play poker. And go to the Jumbo.
- San Ramon: Nada.
- Santiago Centro: If you have never been to Santiago Centro then you’re just plain weird.
- Vitacura: The place I frequent most often in Vitacura is their wonderful Parque Bicentenario. Good place for dogs to play, good place for photo sessions.

And there you have it.

Holy moses I LOVE THIS PHOTO!!! I could Photoshop out the cables in the corner, but I actually like the lines to balance out the photo. I am very happy to have taken this photo. I adore my job.
