I went to Target the other day. I bought a shirt. I tried on said shirt at home and realized I didn’t like it all that much. I also bought a giant rainbow umbrella on a separate occasion. Then I realized that I couldn’t actually bring it back to Chile with me so why did I buy it? I was starting to feel like a hoarder, stocking up on things that I didn’t actually need or want so I wanted to return both. I could only find the receipt for the umbrella.

So when I approached the customer service desk at Target, I said, “I need to return these. I have the receipt for the umbrella but not the shirt so I guess you’ll have to give me store credit.” She replied, “Did you pay for it on a credit card? If so I can look the purchase up and refund the amount to your card.”

My jaw hit the floor. When did life become so convenient?!?

I said, “NO WAY! That is SO cool! I can’t believe you can do that!”

…and the cashier asked, “Has it been a while since you’ve shopped at Target?”

I answered, “Well I shop here whenever I’m in the States but I live in a different country so I guess you could say I’m not a regular.”

She answered, “Because we’ve been able to do this since I started working here. That was more than two years ago.”

Whatever. My mind was still boggled by this new invention. It’s new to me :)

ETA: Seba just reminded me that I should update with a couple features blogs/publications have done on our weddings lately!

The lovely wedding blog Ever Ours, featured Caroline and Tommy’s NYC engagement (style) session. Check it out here!

Kat’s killer blog, Rock N’ Roll Bride, featured Anna and Andrew’s wedding in Santander, Spain. Check it out here!

And last but not least, Eco-Beautiful Weddings Magazine did a feature on Kat, who in turn used one of our pictures from Francisca and Juan Pablo’s wedding for the story. Check it out here between pages 32-35.

We should have some more exciting features coming up soon so I’ll keep you updated!

Like I’ve mentioned before, our life may not be all that glam, but it’s most definitely fun :) Here are a few behind the scenes photos of us doing our thing at recent weddings.

I had to grab a shot in this amazing mirror right before we left Anna and Andrew’s wedding in Santander, Spain.

And then these are from their trash the dress session the next day.

Here we are at Sarah and Pipe’s Wedding Numero Dos in Aurora, Illinois.

Now here is Seba hanging out in NYC at Katie and Luge’s big bash.

Seba tried to tilt shift me out of this one, but it just didn’t work. I’m too big and too purple :)

We were off duty at Shana and Brian’s wedding in Holland, Michigan, when a line dance song I knew came on. Of course I had to help them fill the dance floor. I’m a very concentrated and serious dancer :)

Who knows what Seba is doing here at Shana and Brian’s Frederik Meijer Gardens engagement session. I haven’t the foggiest.

I know what I’m doing. The best angle is always hiding in the bushes!

And of course, we had a fabulous time at Tara and Brent’s awesome downtown GR wedding reception at Eve Lounge!

It’s obvious from these pictures that I am SUCH a good dancer, isn’t it? :)

September 29, 2010

I always sit down and think about my favorite things about our clients and friends so I can then come on the blog to write really nice things about them.

However, in this case, the first thing that came to mind is that Brent is a smart-ass! I mean that in the most loving way. In fact, he has such a dry sense of humor that his email to say they had decided to hire us to shoot their wedding started out with, “Bad news, Kyle,” and my heart sunk. Then when I read further and realized that the bad news part was a joke, I got really excited. Married to a bit of a smart-ass myself, I knew we would all get along swimmingly.

I had no idea at that time that we’d end up changing our flights to stay in Michigan for way longer than originally planned and really being able to get to know Tara and Brent better because of that. They’ve been kind enough to come pick us up when we’re car-less and take us out on the town. They’ve showed us a whole new side of Grand Rapids — Fun! Shockingly cool! — and completely took the time to hang with us and get to know us in a way that I don’t think many people take the time to do with their photographers. We’ve been so appreciative of their friendship over the past couple weeks and I’m glad to say that I don’t think it’s over yet — though I can practically hear Brent reading this and saying in his sarcastic way, “Give me the rest of the pictures and it’s sayonara Kyle and Seba.”  :)

If you’re wondering why I haven’t said anything about Tara, it’s actually because, much like with the ten bajillion photos in this blog post, I’m not sure I’ll be able to cut down all I have to say about her to a readable amount. She is one of the sweetest, most genuine people I have ever met. And that’s saying a lot — I have like fifty thousand facebook friends! She’s hilarious and has a good heart and she’s also one of those super hot girls who somehow never realized how super hot she is, which is a rare quality.

Brent is incredibly lucky to have found her and he knows it. When Tara opened up his gift to her on the wedding day, she started crying before she even opened the card or the present! When I asked her why she was crying already, she said, “Because I know how perfect it will be, he’s always so sweet to me.” He even thought to wrap the present in the wedding colors. If that’s not a groom that goes above and beyond I don’t know what is. Like I said, he knows what a wonderful thing he has with Tara and he always seems happy to go out of his way to make her happy. I love that.

Anyway, I knew I wouldn’t be able to keep this blog about Tara and Brent short. I couldn’t contain myself with the photos either…this is a record for most amount of pictures ever up in one post so here we go!

Tara’s dress was my favorite wedding dress I have ever seen. I LOVED it on her.

And Tara thought she wouldn’t cry at all during her wedding day…

Stunning. Rachel Zoe reference coming right up. I DIE. Ahhh, Tara looked SO beautiful!

Both Tara and Brent got so serious right before the ceremony.

They were worried it was going to start raining.

As the bridesmaids came out it started to sprinkle and I said, “It’s raining!” Tara’s ladies in waiting hushed me and told me not to say anything so that Tara wouldn’t hear. Two seconds later when Tara poked her head out to check right before walking down the aisle, sure enough, the rain had stopped.

I’ve had this picture in my head for a while now. I knew Tara and Brent would be perfect for it and I was right. That’s a nice heart squeeze there :P

Seba!!!!!!! Sometimes he blows my mind with the creative stuff he comes up with, like the shot below.

PS. Remember how Brent is an overachieving groom? He designed the cake too. Isn’t that awesome?!?

my favorite two pictures from this post are below. I absolutely adore these kinds of abstract photos.

Here is the list of vendors. Please read this instead of emailing me asking where she got her dress or where the ceremony was held! Info RIGHT HERE!!!
