Shana is faithful.

Shana is a faithful friend. She is a faithful daughter and sister. She will be a faithful wife to Brian. And most importantly, she is faithful to God and her religion.

I know that kind of jumps right in to this blog post and skips over any kind of introduction, but I’ve been thinking for months about what I was going to write about my friend Shana and her new husband Brian — thinking for months about whether I have the words to describe how truly beautiful a person she is — and faithful is the adjective that came to mind over and over and over again.

I’ve been friends with Shana since 7th grade when we met in cheerleading. We remained friends throughout high school. Then in college, we hung out in Chile while she was there on study abroad and so was I. After college, we kept in touch and even met up in Madrid for a day. Her friendship has been a constant in my life and I could never express how grateful I am for her. I think I took that for granted until recently. How could I?!? But being older gives you new perspective. Scary things in your life give you new perspective. Knowing people who aren’t still friends with girls they met in 7th grade gives you new perspective.

So many more people have also been blessed by Shana. I think most of the 300 people people at Midtown Center would attest to Shana’s faithfulness in their life too. I’m not sure how she finds the time to be that good a friend to so many people, but she does and it’s amazing.

As for Brian, I don’t know him as well as I would like to — but it’s not my fault! They only recently started dating. And I live in another country :) I do know a few things though. I know that when we met him he was nervous — and I liked that. Not because I’m evil or anything (MWAHAHA) but because it meant he cared enough about Shana to want to make a good impression on her friends. I know that when people talks he listens — and not in a fake listen, superficially caring kind of way — he listens in a real way, a way that most people do not. And I know that he made a big impression on Seba because Seba came home from the wedding and said, “WEON!!!! El Brian es SUPER simpatico, la cago!” Since I don’t want Shana and Sarah to be the only ones at the wedding who understood that, the rough translation is, “DUDE!!! Brian is SO nice, holy cow!” Seba said he asked questions and really seemed interested in the answers again — in a way that most people don’t.

Their wedding was so happy and so emotional. Shana is always full of joy, but in this day, love and light radiated out of her and touched every single person there. Brian is blessed to have her — we are all blessed beyond measure to have her in our lives. And I have no doubt that all who know Brian feel the exact same way about him. If they are this good separate, imagine how good they will be now that they’re together forever.

I adore this photo and everyone in it!

I LOVE this one.

  19. I am normally not into wedding dresses but I liked hers. Lovely!

I laughed at your story about Seba meeting Brian. Normally, L says little when he meets my friends and even less about their boyfriends but when he met my friend’s fiancé, he blurted out as soon as we got he the car, “C is so cool! We need to hang out with him again before I leave!” I thought it was funny because he sounded like he was a little kid.
