I had a hard time coming up with the title for this post. For some reason I didn’t think “HOLY AMAZEBALLS TRASH THE DRESS Session” or “MAN, Kai and Kayley are REALLY Hot!” was appropriate.

Our good friends Kai and Kayley Heeringa (who are also incredible Grand Rapids Wedding Photographers) just celebrated three years of marriage together and so Kayley decided to surprise Kai with a picnic (though he did know about the trash the dress photo session at the orchard. He had to know in order to come looking good, obvio po).

I am completely blown away by how good everything looked and how Kayley paid attention to all the little details that are important to them as a couple — pink lemonade cheesecake from the woman who made their wedding cake, 3′s all over the place because it’s their third anniversary, photos of them together, a picture Kai drew when he was little, and lots more.

And as an aside to any photographer who might be reading this — I can’t even tell you how wonderful it is to have other good photographer friends. Every time we’re in G.R. we come hang out with Kai and Kayley and it is so nice to be able to go back and forth with ideas and talk to people who get it.

Kai and Kayley, thank you for your friendship. We’re SO lucky to have met you…and so lucky to have been able to photograph your hot asses so many times :) Happy third anniversary. Here’s to celebrating your fourth with a trip down to Chile to come visit us.

Many thanks to Robinette’s for letting Kayley go out and set all this up.

K.H. For Kyle Hepp. Haha, it’s fun having the same initials and both Kai and Kayley. Poor Seba. He probably feels left out.

Here comes Kayley running back to arrive on scene before Kai gets there.

This is the continuation to the photo from Labor Day — otherwise known as The Most Beautiful Shot of Absolutely Nothing At All in the World.

  10. that setup is so adorable! (and making it to grand rapids to try that cake might be my new life goal)

i like the browns and nature colors with the dress, like the one where they’re laying in the reeds or grass. those are my favorites because it completely emphasizes the dress being totally out of element from the norm. very cute couple.
