Happy birthday to my beloved Seba. He turns 30 today. I love him so much that this year I didn’t forget his birthday.

He doesn’t always feel like he’s accomplished “enough,” by age 30. Screw conventional wisdom that says by age 30 you should have a baby and a home and an established career in whatever you majored in (though if you do have that, more power to you!).

I say, what is “enough,” anyways? We are our own bosses. We get to spend time with both our families even though they live in different countries. We have good friends around the world. We have been fortunate enough to travel all over the place. We own an apartment. I’m happy, he’s happy. Personally, I think that’s way more than just “enough.” :)

Mr. Larco, might I remind you, that on your 30th birthday, you are one lucky man. And I am one lucky woman to have you by my side. Happy 30th, old man.

  6. No offense to those who have them but having kids does NOT mean you have it made. Right now, in my opinion, it would mean anchor around my neck drowning! And you said it baby – the world is your oyster! He’s definitely accomplished all right!

  7. whoops thought I posted here but i was on fb or something. Funny – I didn’t read your blog post until after we sang the birthday song. The kids were giving me a hard time for calling Seba an old man when I am 40. I assured them it was all part of the fun. So Happy Birthday Old Man! From someone even older

  10. 30 isn’t that bad… God willing, there is still plenty of life to be lived. A few friends of mine didn’t get married until they were in their mid-late thirties and life is working out for them just fine.
