Post by Seba, translation by me, my own commentary after the *’s.

What’s up? Here I am again “voluntarily” to write something that might sound moderately interesting. *He wanted to write about his new super duper RAID server hard drive thingy. Trust me. This is better.

It’s not that I don’t like to write. It’s not that I’m lazy (ok, so maybe it’s 50% laziness) but it’s just that what’s interesting to me, probably interesting to you. Sometimes I think of something to write about and I tell it to Kyle and her response is “BORING!!!” So that’s how my awesome ideas get discarded, one after another (which is probably best for you guys). *I don’t discard his ideas like that. I’m much nicer. I say, “boring,” not, “BORING!!!!”

(I’m a nerd, I know).

Well, recently, while trying to find a solution to our growing problem of how to store photos, we (*he) decided to put together a server we would back up ALL the archives that we’ve up to this point, on 8 hard external hard drives and 4 computers. (I’m a nerd I know). *No, you don’t know. You don’t know the half of it.

Mi cara no cambia nunca.

So that’s how I started organizing everything in folders by date and name. I got back to pictures from 2005 and I realized one thing. My face never changes. Jeez. I look exactly the same in photos from 2005 to 2010. Actually the other day, I had to renew my driver’s license (which expires every 10 years). After all is said and done, the new license looked identical to the old license. It just looked like they changed the date. I looked exactly the same.

Me veo igual?

So I’ll leave you with a couple pictures so that you guys can decide. Do I look the same?

2005:

2006:

2006:

2007:

2008:

2009: *His head looks more misshapen here. That might be the lens. Either that or time is molding him into an egg.

2010: *Trying on his friend’s sunglasses.

And just so you can see that I’m 100% telling the truth, that my face doesn’t change, here I am when I was 5 months old.

I just read the whole post and it’s really boring!!! I guess I should leave this blog thing to Kyle. *No. Please don’t.

Here’s an idea — ask me anything and I’ll respond within the next couple of weeks. How does that sound? *Please ask him anything. I need him to blog!

  3. Ah, my husband keeps talking about setting us up with a RAID backup system. Probably a good idea after I’ve lost two hard drives this year. Ugh.

  5. You didn’t post about what type of box / software you are running your raid server on, haha!

I also had to shave at 5 months old :)

  7. Dani, Seba is obsessed with his RAID system. OBSESSED. If you have any questions, email me and I’ll make Seba respond.

    Jajajaja, Xanthe, you’re too funny!

Kai, anyone man who’s truly a baller had to shave at age 5.

  10. Seba, I wish I’d gotten to know you better in person when I had the chance. However, I think I can safely say there are a few things other than your face that don’t change:

    1. You still wear Kyle’s Grandville Soccer sweatshirt which, way back in 2005, somehow made me know that you were cool and that you and Kyle were in it for the long haul;

    2. You are hilarious.

Okay, my questions. May be kind of lame and basic, but whatever. 1. What’s your favorite travel memory, and why? (You must pick one only!) 2. Describe the first week you spent in Florida. 3. What dog training tips can you offer?

  11. Such a model in that B&W photo! I have no questions, sorry, but I think that just writing about weird gringa things Kyle does would be entertaining and good payback for all the stuff she’s written over the years about strange things Chileans do :)

  12. Seba, you don’t look the same at all. You look much happier now that you are married to Kyle!

  13. You haven’t changed much. I was going to ask why you never smile, then I remembered how NASTY Kyle was to you in that post. No wonder you don’t smile ;-)

Fab post, made me laugh lots. You’d make a great comedy duo!

  15. I also have a particularly nerdy partner when it comes to these things. It’s nice to hear I am not alone. I though B was going to faint with excitement when he found that his favoruite military made, shock proof HDs now came in terrabite sizes.

And yes, you haven’t changed a bit. It’s Kyle that is the chameleon! The last photo was also very funny.

  16. First–Yes, Seba, you look exactly the same. You will be perpetually 20!

Second–Glad to hear you guys have so many pictures archived because Nelson and I just went looking for the CD’s from our wedding, civil wedding, and boudoir session and realized we can’t find them. Oops. Can we get a copy of them when we’re in Chile in November??? Shoot me an email, plzzzz.

    Besos.

    Comment by Melissa — October 28, 2010 @ 3:17 pm

  17. Melissa: Si!! Voy a parecer eternamente de 20 años. Xoxox…..

Kristy: I would pretty exited about shock proof HD too….that would be sper awesome.

Carrie. I am going to use your question to start my next post, and besides, i need to think about it for a long time

  18. Well, you HAVE mentioned that you guys were like vampires. So yeah, that might explain things.

    Comment by Sherry — October 29, 2010 @ 3:13 pm

  19. Seba, you’ll never have to worry about aging. That’s not a bad thing. :)

Hey, I’d be interested in reading about the Raid. Seba’s already posted on my wall about it. He really did his research (something my hubby also likes to do) and sounds like he made a great choice on the setup.

From what I can see the Raid topic seems to be popular around here.

Also, what gringa food do you wish you could get in Chile? I already know you like french fries. And is the beer a lot different? The beer was kind of weird in Ethiopia. I’m not sure what they’d make of American beer.
