This weekend we headed out to San Francisco to shoot Sydney and Brian’s engagement session at Yerba Buena Gardens. You may possibly remember Sydney from being the cute little bridesmaid who kept popping up in interesting compositions in my photos during Emily’s wedding.

Since I had already met Sydney, I knew we liked each other. I also probably feel like I know her better than I actually do because she’s one of Emily’s best friends so I’ve heard all kinds of stories about them growing up together. But Brian wasn’t able to make it down to Chile the last time she came to visit so this was my first time meeting him in person. He did not disappoint.

When Sydney told me she was engaged I tried to imagine what her fiance would be like. In my head I concocted a guy who was good for her in every way — driven, fun, a little silly, a lot adventurous — basically someone who could keep up with a woman like Sydney. When we met real life Brian, I was shocked that he actually lived up to the Brian I had imagined Sydney marrying! Sydney and Brian have found such a wonderful fit in each other. I feel incredibly lucky that we are the photographers that get to translate that into photos.

EEEEEEEK, I love this one so much!!!!

Brian likes serious photos.

Seba likes shoe photos. The above and below together, are two more of my favorites.

The next shot is #2 on my favorite photos from this shoot list. I am obsessed with the lines, and the little window up in the corner, the way they are looking at each other and the simplicity of it all.

Holy eyelashes Sydney…and I think those bad boys are REAL!

Also, holy adorable shoes!!!

And this last one, j’adore, j’adore, J’ADORE!!!!! The fog was rolling in (do I sound like a San Francisconian now?) and it was freezing out. I made poor Sydney and Brian sit there shivering until I got the photo just the way I could see it in my head. But I am absolutely obsessed with the results!!!!! Worth it, right?!?

  4. I love them alllllll! Although I will admit to a certain bias :) Knowing them both, I really feel like you captured them and their relationship in these, both the love and the silliness. One of my favorites is the one where they’re both sitting on little cement pillars – I can almost hear what they’re saying to each other. Cannot wait for March!

  6. Hahaha, Kayley with the leaf “floating by,” and by floating by, you mean, with the leaf that Seba threw over and over and over again in front of the camera so I could get that shot, right? :P

  13. heyyyy kyle! i left a long comment before and then accidentally closed the tab before submitting it :) so i’m back!and i think what i had said was… 3rd shot down, first fave, but then so were all the tilt-shift ones (now i’m gonna have to rent a TS lens for my next wedding!), and the fourth image down was another fave. and the “little window” shot :) i LOVE their style, and love – as always – how you captured such sweet moments between them. sure these are wonderful, lasting memories for the couple!
