The other day somebody by the name of Woodward, linked to my blog as one of the expat Chile blogs you should read, and added that hopefully I would “start writing more about (my) experiences in Chile again.”

Woodward, I hate to break it to you, but my life in Chile isn’t much different than anybody else’s life anywhere. I mean, aside from the fact that it’s way more fun because I live in a perpetual dance party :)

But seriously, go back through the archives if you’re interested in life as an expat in Chile. I won’t say I’ve written about everything under the sun there is to write about because the second I do a brilliant idea will strike and I’ll have to go back on my word. I’ve thought of many more Things Chileans Like, but every idea I have, I search it in my blog, and I’ve already written about it at least once, if not twice. To put it mildly, I’m Chile’ed out. I’m sure anyone who’s been reading for longer than like, a minute, is too. I think  our apartment remodeling will give me lots of new material, but until we start — and that “until” is looking like sometime in the faaaar off future as we just applied for a permit (that takes a month to get) that’s necessary to apply for another permit to begin construction — I feel like I don’t have much to say that’s fresh. Andrea was just writing about her blog overstaying it’s welcome, and I’m very much trying not to overstay mine either. But I feel like if I’m constantly writing about annoying expat nuances that me and everyone else in the blogosphere have already complained about ten trillion times, there’s not much point in blabbing on and on about expat life just for the sake of blabbing on and on about expat life. Sorry Woodward.

But, in the way of writing more about day to day life, here are a few pictures from our weekend.

Fuel before photographing a wedding in Vina del Mar.

Old man Seba starts the day out fresco como lechuga, or “fresh as lettuce,” as they say here.

And then the highlight of the previous weekend. See below. Prepare to have your mind blown.

Yes. Damn straight. That’s me wearing pants. A rare occurrence indeed. I don’t think I have left the house that casual since…since…I was born and came home naked? Scratch that. I was a giant slob in high school. So maybe I haven’t left the house that casual since college.

And yep, damn straight again. We wore our cotillon collection to a birthday party. Those are bunny ears on my head, heart-shaped sunglasses on my face, and we later added leis to the ensemble. Karla and Yan are so glad they invited us to the fiesta. Obvio po, weon.

  1. You may FEEL like you’ve said it all, but those of us who aren’t traveling and living a life of adventure like you and Seba, we are in no way sick or tired of hearing about your daily life. LOL :)

  4. That’s true – I never really picked up on it before – but you are always wearing cute dresses! Don’t you ever get sick of shaving your legs all the time? That’s why jeans and pants are great you see.

  6. Nashy, but notice another thing…I wear dresses with tights under them when I have hairy legs! And it helps to disguise that my legs are blindingly white :)

  8. Yup, I too am digging the lipstick. Even if the running shoes are a bit “Sarika Rodrik not matching shoes to outfits”-ish :)

  9. How did you find a wall that matches your outfit so great? Or is it just photoshopped to match?

  10. I just found your blog, and I love reading the transition from … being overwhelmed by living in a foreign country, to hey I’m home now. I’ve lived in Iceland, and Wales, and Germany, and I’m really looking forward to moving to Chile. But what I’m really interested in is feeling confident that even a gringo can make her home there. I never felt like Germany was “home” even though ethnically I’m more german than anything else, but loved Iceland and found the most amazing friends and experiences. I want to retire in Osorno, maybe have a small winery and a few dogs and drink excellent wine with lots of friends. Maybe I’ll find a husband, maybe I’ll just be the crazy white chick on the corner.
