First of all, I apologize for the wackiness of this website lately. My server was down three times last week so I couldn’t post. Then we switched servers, and switching today somehow erased my travel post about Belgium that I put up last night. So it was public for a while and then it was gone and now it is back, in case you missed it. Many thanks for web guru, Jennette Fulda, for fixing all these disasters. I don’t know what I’d do without her!

I actually shot this family session back in June or July, but we had so many other sessions going on at the time that I didn’t blog it back then. But I was going back through some old photos yesterday and rediscovered these. I really love them. I also think they’re perfectly representative of the kinds of family photo sessions that we photograph. If you want posed, everybody look at the camera pictures, I am not your girl. So I thought I’d show these off to the world since they’re very much our cup of tea. I may pull some of the other family shoots that I haven’t posted yet out of the archives too — because everybody likes to look at cute kids around Christmas time :)

Anyway, we absolute adored working with such a fun, high energy family! Hope you enjoy the results!

I bet this lovey is already so much bigger than she was six months ago. Now that I have a niece, I totally appreciate what parents mean when they says, “The time goes so fast!”

Dogs are part of families too!

I know that these are my people when Mom says to Dad, “Can you get her dressed for the photo session?” And daughter #1 comes back downstairs wearing a cape.

Now it’s time for the girls individual portrait sessions :)

If I were a mom, I would want a portrait like this hanging giant on my wall.

This too. I love it. LOVE.

  1. I like the naturalness to these – no stiff portraits with everyone wearing the same outfit and staring at the camera. You’ve captured them as they are instead :)

  16. Such cuties! It helps that the dog looks like a more mature Lola, but the picture with the little one licking the window and “Daughter #1″ looking as though she’s about to take flight are just great too.

  19. oh me too….this is my FAVORITE kind of family sessions. I would totally have that one of the whole family with the little girl up in the air blown up huge for my wall, and also the two individual portraits of the children (the baby standing on her head and her sister with her cape)
    Love these, Kyle.

  20. Emily, I think I told you after the session that we photographed a family with a Lola type dog! Though their personalities are not even close to similar.

Thanks everyone for your kind words!

  23. I would totally have put on a cape too (as a child, I mean). I was an unusual child and walked around with tiaras and plastic high-heels. My parents just let me do it which I give them credit for. I love the one of her in the cape next to her mom’s stomach.
