I would like to clarify a few things.

1. I did not tell Seba not to bring his parka. When he asked me if he would need it, I said, “I don’t think so.” I was simply giving an opinion — not forbidding him from making the adult decision to bring or not to bring his jacket.

2. In my defense, when he asked, my only reference to the weather in Michigan was Kayley’s fashion blog, and she looked very warm in her short sleeved outfits prior to our visit!

3. I’m always asking Seba to “take over the blog,” and telling him, “just do what you want,” with the videos. Maybe that’s a bad idea if this is the result :)

Our trip to Florida and Michigan were truly wonderful. We met and photographed a couple that really touched us. We roadtripped. My brother and his fiance’s gorgeous baby was born. We got to catch up with some of our best friends. We made new friends. Life is good, it really is.

The only (small) downside was that both American Airlines and then LanChile lost our luggage. So first, after we fly from Miami-Chicago-Grand Rapids, we got there and one suitcase was missing. It only took three days and seven phone calls, but American eventually got it back to us. Then when we flew Grand Rapids-Dallas-Miami-Guyaquil-Santiago. Again, another suitcase was missing (a different one than in MI). The most frustrating part about all this is that in both scenarios, when we went to ask about our luggage (after new bags had stopped coming onto the carousel) both airlines told us to “just wait” because there would “probably be more bags coming.” We waited 40 minutes in both scenarios and every time we asked, they told us to keep waiting. After 40 minutes, when we’d lost our tempers, they finally decided to look up the luggage ticket in their computers and realized sure enough that the bag had stayed behind in Chicago and Lima, respectively. Why waste our time? Why not just look it up in the computer right away, instead of making us wait another 40 minutes. In both cases, there was no one else at the luggage counter, so it’s not like they had too much to do.

Anyway, sorry to complain on the blog, but I emailed both Lan and American, expecting a “We’re sorry for your inconvenience” response, at the very least, and neither have answered. So I wanted to vent a little bit and get it out of my system.

  3. Kyle, you may have been an all-star cheerleader and soccer player but you throw like a girl!!

Seba, next time you shouldn’t trust Kyle. You should google it . . Grand Rapids, MI ranks 5th in cloudy days in the US http://www.menshealth.com/skincancer/ but at least you won’t get skin cancer here.

P.S. – wow, that sure is a nice deck.

  4. Mom, that is the most beautiful deck I have EVER seen. I’m so glad we got to enjoy so much in the snow!

  5. I’m over in Wisconsin and we’re hunkering down for 12+ inches tomorrow. YUCK. It’s gorgeous to look at it, but wretched to deal with otherwise. Tell Seba he should keep a set of winter gear at your parents’ house! ;) It’s the midwest, therefore it will thunder one minute and snow the next…even in July. haha.

  6. Well Kyle, your blog makes me relive snowy places…although usually it makes me think of love and happiness. I hope you appreciate the things I do for you! :-)

  7. I don’t know why they are so rude when they lose baggage. First of all, I don’t really blame them for losing bags occasionally. but I don’t particularly like it when they are rude about it. No one wants to spend MORE time in the airport – so why not just be nice.

My point being – complain on sister.

  8. Sorry to hear about your delayed baggages and rude staff… But r u aware that you are entitled for “reasonable interim expenses” (close to $350/day).. Pls check with AA website/customerCare on the same.
