First of all, I have a new About page. Seba mostly wrote it. He’s hilarious. So you should check it out. Let me know what you think.

While I’ve been busy working on wedding photos and engagement session photos and 1 year anniversary photos (yes, I have lots of fun shoots coming up to show you), I put Seba to work on some travel photos so we’d have something to blog about!

Our first day in San Francisco we hit the ground running. My aunt picked us up at the airport and after approximately 13 hours of travel time we went straight off the plane to breakfast with a view. The place where we ate had windows out to what used to be sea water baths. Outside at the lookout there was a retired man working as a volunteer to give visitors information about the history of the baths. I can’t remember a damn word he said because I was so cold, but I did think that it was really cool that the national parks arrange volunteers to teach people about the cool locations in the Bay area.

No idea what this totem pole was doing hanging out here, the free guide was like…ten feet away…and I was too cold to walk back and ask him about it. So sorry to say I have no information on it, but I did think it looked cool enough to merit a photo.

Giant Camera. I should get myself one of those.

After breakfast our next stop was the Golden Gate Bridge. It was definitely impressive in person. It’s one of those things where you’ve seen it so many times in movies, in photos, in documentaries about people committing suicide, that it felt totally surreal to be there. Both Seba and I felt it. At one point he said, “This is like the Eiffel Tower. Never in my life did I think I would see this in person.”

The Golden Gate Bridge has a lot of rules.

I want to say that’s Alcatraz in the distance there.

Oh my gosh, it was SO COLD and these nuts were surfing.

Try number one.

I look like Bozo.

Try number two.

I have to physically restrain my hair.

My adorable aunt and uncle. They live outside San Francisco and rarely come into the city, so hopefully the day of touristing around was as fun for them as it was for us.

And my adorable Seba. It wasn’t as hard for him to control his hair. Notice that this trip I let Seba bring his parka.

After the Golden Gate Bridge we did Alcatraz. It wasn’t raining yet on the boat ride out. It had just started drizzling when we got there. Fortunately the audio tour is inside.

  6. Ese puente es divino! Q bien q sintieron eso xq yo siempre pensé q me obsesión con el puente era parte de mi nerdy side. I Love watching engineering Marvels And when I finally see the places that I’ve seen on TV it is a great feeling!!

The totem I believe is from Alaska. I have never seen the one that you saw but I know that Vancouver-Seattle and that area is full of totems.
Maybe some esquimos got tired of the north and headed to SF for the weather. J/k Not esquimos but the NW American Indians.

I agree, surfers are crazy. The pacific ocean is COLD even in southern CA. I can’t imagine how cold it gets under the bridge w the wind.
I don’t need to tell you this but: I LOVE all the pictures!!!

  7. The surfers are just insane there – they make me cold and also scared because they’re out in the middle of the Bay where I’m sure they’re going to die.

The Golden Gate is impressive even when you’ve seen it a million times. It never fails to make me smile.

  8. Great pics, Kyle!! I really like the 1st on of Alcatraz. SF is definitely a hoot– my cousin hit it big time there selling solar energy (before it was getting popular)– it’s just the type of people out there are willing to spend beau-coup bucks on being green. LOVE all the pictures– brings me back!

  11. I don’t even understand half of what they’re saying with the Golden Gate Bridge rules… though I really should walk or run across it at some point. I drive it a lot but then I have to restrain myself from staring at the view.

These pictures are great. Make me want to ignore the fact that it is wet and freezing outside and go see Alcatraz again. The audio tour is so cool.

  13. San Francisco is gorgeous isn’t it! I didn’t go to Alcatraz. It looks like it was “fun” – that seems like poor word choice.

  16. Woah, those pictures of Alcatraz are powerful.

I do love your photos of the Golden Gate bridge. Have always wanted to go there. I saw that documentary too. Wasn’t sure about what to expect. Then within the first four minutes I just couldn’t believe my eyes!

I love your About section. Made me giggle a lot. :D
