You may have noticed in the past couple weeks that I’ve started advertising. If you see something that starts with “Guest Post:” that means I didn’t write it — I’m being paid to host the post. And if you see links, such as the one at the bottom of this post, that also means I’m being paid to host it.

I’m selling out :)

Except not really. I see nothing wrong with the fact that I put a lot of hard work into writing this blog and now hopefully I’ll be reaping some financial benefits from it. Trust me when I say I’m not getting rich from it. But something is better than nothing. I started out getting free hotel stays, which does save me money but doesn’t actually make me money. Now I’m looking to see if I can actually earn a little something from the blog.

I am open to any comments or questions. Let me know in the comments, or send me an email.

On to the post…

We’re going back to Barcelona, baby! Like I mentioned, we LOVED the city. It’s beautiful. It’s artistic. It’s happy. What’s not to like?

We walked around a ton in our five short days in Spain and took pictures of all the random sights we saw. Starting with this under construction church. No, it’s not the Sagrada Familia. We’ll get there.

These photos were all taken in/around the Gothic neighborhood. It’s an old area of the city and there are signs on the streets marking significant areas — it used to be the Jewish quarters of Barcelona and there is a lot to see.

Can you tell that these are little ghouls up on top of the building?

One thing that is interesting about Barcelona is that all the signs and menus and everthing are in Catalan and Spanish. Actually, sometimes they’re in Catalan only.

You can go inside a building and see the Roman columns that are still left over from past eras. Very. Freaking. Old.

I miss my baby! That’s why there are two photos of him in this post! I’m at a hotel tonight instead of on a plane towards Santiago, as planned. WAH!

And these random kitty cats on a wall end your tour of the Gothic neighborhood of Barcelona. Hope you enjoyed!

    • OMG really?! I LOVED the Sagrada Familia. It blew me away!!!

And I was a volunteer to give up my seat for an 800 dollar voucher. So a voluntary cancellation you could say :)

      • I would stay for 500! Haha that is a great voucher! I only have gotten offers for 200-300 and I’ve tried to negotiate with no luck. I’m sure someone else accepts the 200! I never liked that church plus it makes me mad that the cranes block the pictures and they will continue to block it for…. 20 more years? Hahaha

  2. I think we need to post a disclaimer on our site as well, haha – no need to apologize! I think anyone who blogs can appreciate how much work it is and I don’t think you ever “break even.”

Gorgeous photos! Barcelona is so friggin’ hip

  4. wow, talk about a trip down memory lane, kyle! i spent many hours in the barrio gotico talking to people and trying to find addresses. those streets are such a maze, and the buildings are so close together, you can smell the mold that grows because the sun never gets in there. amazing photos, too, by the way. you have a knack for architecture. :)
