I was in the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area a couple weeks ago — remember, when I ended up getting stuck there for three extra days and kidnapping a pregnant strange woman for company?

We stayed at the Ritz Carlton Fort Lauderdale. They’re known for being luxurious but still really family friendly.

Anyways, while I was there I thought it might be fun to take my little sister with me to a nice hotel. She’s 15 so she’s old enough to appreciate the finer things in life but still young enough to be impressed :)

The pool area was my favorite part of the hotel. Duh. It was gorgeous. So pretty, overlooking the Ft. Lauderdale Beach.

We laid out for about five seconds and I got too hot. I really don’t do well in the sun. I burn so fast. So I sat there for a second and was fanning myself with my book when a poolboy walked by and noticed and asked if I wanted him to bring over an umbrella. Yes, please! Talk about good service! My little sister commented, “WOW. They’re treating us like ROYALTY!”

Personally, I’m a princess and I don’t like swimming in the ocean unless there’s a shower right next to me because when the water dries the salt makes me itchy. Being able to overlook the beach, yet cool off in the pool was the best!

Paradise, right?

We had an ocean front room with one of the balconies you see here.

Our room was so pretty. My little sister wanted to live here forever.

That night we took a little stroll to see the sunset. Unfortunately it was a pretty cloudy night so this was all she wrote:

But I like night time pics of palm trees too.

We had so much fun! It was an awesome bonding girls night (and day) for us. I also hadn’t expected the rooms to be SO nice or so light and airy. They were gorgeous. The whole hotel was!

Disclaimer: According to the FTC rules I have to tell you that the Ritz Carlton sponsored our hotel stay. However, please note — I am not being forced to blog about this and I wouldn’t say any of it if it weren’t true.

  9. I will be your model ANY time if it means I get to take fancy baths and have massages! That hotel looks and sounds gorgeous, but I’m not surprised. I think that the Ritz Carlton is one chain that lives up to all its hype – they’re old school and elegant but not stuffy. I’m jealous!
