Nosotros tuvimos una cena de Thanks Giving, a papito y machasa no les toco pavo. La verdad ni lo pense, no se si sea buena idea. Quizas el proximo año les toque.

We were in Michigan this month for a quickie visit home because of my brother’s wedding! No, we didn’t photograph it…we were there as guests!

We stayed at my mom’s house for the majority of our stay, but then when the opportunity presented itself for us to get away and enjoy a couple nights at a beautiful, funky hotel in downtown G.R., we jumped on it. My mom is 1 of 7 brothers and sisters, and many of those were invading during wedding week.

In the past couple years, I’ve really started to feel a new found appreciation for downtown Grand Rapids. I feel like it’s gotten way cooler than it used to be and every time we go back, I like it more! 10 years ago, I can’t imagine that an uber modern hotel like City Flats would’ve done well, but now they have a whole new audience for it.  The hotel was filled with lots of young, well dressed people the whole time we were there. Even the guy who checked us in was a snazzy dude from Germany! We really enjoyed our stay at City Flats and it was fun to see this whole new side to GR. Check out the pics from our stay below:

The bar and lounge area were especially cool. And at night they really filled up!

I love this shot!

Our room was really cute and had gorgeous huge windows. My favorite thing is when a hotel room is nice and bright and this one fit the bill!

I loved my boudoir session hair so much I had to take one more picture of me all done up!

The rooms were very simple and clean, I really like the style.

Look how pretty downtown Grand Rapids is! A little grey during the winter, sure, but still a great place to hang out.

Thank you to City Flats for having us for such a wonderful stay!

Disclaimer: According to the FTC rules I have to tell you that City Flats sponsored our hotel stay. However, please note — I am not being forced to blog about this and I wouldn’t say any of it if it weren’t true.

PS. If you enjoyed this post there are a few things you can do to support me:

1. Do your shopping via my Amazon + B&H affiliate links in the sidebar. You can buy any item on Amazon via that link and it counts for me. Thank you mucho.

2. Easier. Click Plus 1 and/or Like. That takes two seconds and is much appreciated!

3. Do your Christmas shopping at my new prints store! You know your friends would love a gorgeous photo of Patagonia hanging on their wall!

PPS. Muchas gracias to all who have done these things already!

Thank you to LiveOn for this sponsored opportunity to blog about storing and sharing my most important memories with those closest to me. Although story ideas were provided, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

I think this is the most excited I’ve ever been about writing a sponsored post. LiveOn is the COOLEST idea in the world. The concept is that it’s a place online where you keep all your favorite memories in the form of pictures, videos, music, text, etc. So you can upload a photo album, then narrate through it using their voice recording tool, add text, add music if you want and then have it as part of your timeline on the website forever. I absolutely adore the idea of being able to go back and listen to us narrating through all our old photos and I wish this tool had been invented back in the day when Seba and I traveled through Costa Rica on our first real trip together, or when we got married!

You are also able to create tribes with your friends and family when they also join the site so that you can share and re-live their memories.

It’s basically like an online scrapbook made by everybody you love. I can’t think of anything better.

The site is still a little buggy — they just launched so there are kinks to work out. But the idea is there and I love it.

My favorite feature, by far, is the ability to narrate through your pictures as you go. Imagine if this site really catches on and sticks around. That means some day, Ava Boo could log on, and if she was (really, really, really) bored, browse through my timelines and hear me talking about how much I loved her when she was a tiny little baby. If my brother and Lauron started using LiveOn, Ava Boo would be able to go back and hear her parents describing all the crazy antics she did as a kid. I think that just the fact that she’d be able to hear me saying the words, makes the emotion that much stronger.

My own mom tells the *best* stories about us when we babies. When Kelsey and I were little kids we use to beg for her to tell them to us over and over and over again. So now I’m really hoping that I can convince her to sign up and record some of her own timelines. That way I can have her voice forever. I mean, my mom is going to live to be at least 250 years old, so it’s all good, but in the rare event that she dies before 200 it’ll be nice to still be able to have her voice whenever I want to listen to it.

Phew, that just got morbid, didn’t it? Sorry, what I meant to say is that LiveOn is amazing. The End. :)

Off to work on my timeline for my brother’s wedding now! Here I am with my stepsister, right before leaving for the big event.

Thank you again to LiveOnfor sponsoring this blog post. Please click here to learn more about storing and sharing your most special memories. I was selected for this sponsorship by Clever Girls Collective. All opinions expressed here are my own.
