I don’t even know what to say.

Thank you.

Thank you all for making me focus on the positive.

Thank you all for believing in me.

And most of all, thank you for telling me, overwhelmingly and resoundingly, that I am not alone, that I am not the only one who feels this way, that I am not the only one who takes rejection personally.

I could barely even believe the response to what I wrote. I got emails/twitter messages/Facebook messages from so many creatives — other photographers obviously, but also, a piano teacher, a painter, a writer/violin player and more. PS. I’m still going through and have only been able to respond to about half of you so far, but I promise I’ll write everybody back this week!

This afternoon I found out that we are booking a couple that I am in love with. 2012 couldn’t be looking better. I feel so passionately about Every. Single. Couple. we’re photographing for next year, so happy and excited about the weddings we have on the books. We have been hired by couples whose life and love I believe in. That’s such affirmation to me that we are on the right track. The right (for us) people are hiring us.

I wouldn’t want to do this job if I couldn’t wake up every morning and feel thrilled about the souls that are in our frames. I love photography, but I love people even more.

Then, I solidified some details and are officially accepting Junebug’s invitation into their prestigious network of World’s Best Photographers. Starting this week, we will be one of two photographers that they are promoting in all of South America. Literally all of the photographers I admire most in this industry are listed. Not just anybody can join. It’s mind-blowing to me that they even asked us to be a part of that exclusive group of talent. I’m so honored.

We also found out that I WON ANOTHER FEARLESS AWARD. That’s so insane. My mind is pretty much completely boggled!!!

And that’s a confirmation to me. Not for the ego-boost of being invited to Junebug or winning an award, though I’ll admit, I definitely had a moment of jumping up and down and dancing while singing “Junebug wants us! Junebug wants us!” and “Heeeey, hooooo, heeeey, hooooo, I’m FEARLESS!” — but it’s more confirmation of the fact that I am putting my heart and soul into this work and the industry is seeing that in the photos we take, and recognizes that as legit.

Moving on. To photos of happy people that make me happy.

Many of the photos in this post were taken at the Lavanda Casa de Te in Frutillar. It is a beautifully decorated cafe with gorgeous views overlooking Lago Llanquihue, set in fields and fields of lavender. STUNNING. We shot some photos then went inside for some delicious hot chocolate and mouth watering pastries. It was so good, the next morning, I woke up of my own free will to drag our group up there for breakfast. Anybody who knows me and my night owl ways, knows what a big deal that is. The food and hot chocolate were so good, I had to go back one more time before we left Frutillar!

Thank you so much to the owner Christina, for allowing us to photograph to our hearts content on her property!

These next four shots I actually took at Loft & Lake, our hotel in Frutillar.

I LOVE all three of these next shots with a passion.

Especially this one…

  19. I’ve always loved your style. So unique but awesome with it. Most people would stick to the norm and focus on the foreground but you didn’t and those shots work so well.
