All the rest of my posts from Peru are going to be a let down…because really, what can top photos of Machu Picchu? Not much…except maybe photos of the Galapagos Islands. Those are coming soon. But anyways, back to Cuzco.
This post is mostly just a random collection of the pictures I took while walking around this gorgeous city, wishing I had more time there.
While there I used my favorite source of tourist information to find a few restaurants I wanted to check out, Trip Advisor. I wrote down the names of a couple and then went to look at the menus and thought I’d decide where I wanted to eat after I’d been to them all. But I got to a place to Marcelo Batata and the waiter immediately handed me a menu and then said, “Do you want to see the rooftop terrace?”
The guy knew he was going to be able to sell me with that. It was sunset and the view was freaking STUNNING.
I felt like I was in Rome. Or another time. Or just somewhere magical.
The food was good too. Though it looks a little strange in primary colors.
I had a Peruvian pisco sour and then also decided to try some flavor infused pisco shots. Purple corn was one of the ones I tried. It was WEIRD. But fun to try strange food stuffs. AND, then fireworks started going off. It was so cool to have such a great view!
As I walked back to the hotel, I had to go through the plaza where live music was playing to celebrate some holiday specific to the region.
Peru’s answer to the high school marching band came on through, with dancers and feathers in their caps.
Really, I couldn’t have planned a better night. I absolutely love when the stars align like that!
