Guest Post: 3 Exotic and Romantic Wedding Destinations in Mexico

Mexico is often thought about as a great place for a destination wedding or honeymoon. With its perfect weather, and beautiful waters, it can be a magical and romantic place. But it can also be crowded and a little less romantic in overly popular places like Cancun or Cozumel. If you want to head to Mexico for your wedding, try going a little of the beaten path and find something truly unique and exotic, without breaking the bank.

Tulum Mexico is actually a popular archeology site in Mexico with ancient Mayan ruins, and it is known as one of the last towns inhabited by the Mayans. The city lays along the eastern coastal areas of the Yucatan Peninsula on the Caribbean Sea, and is one of the best preserved coastal Maya sites. Destination weddings are regularly held at Ana Y Jose hotel and Beach Club. Though the town is smaller, there are places to eat, beautiful beaches, and shopping for local fair including jewelry and silver that Mexico is so well known for. And being that Tulum is located just 80 miles south of Cancun, you can easily reach it through a rental car or the 24 taxi services that Tulum provides.

If you want to be completely untraditional and exotic, check out the Eco-Hotel near the Calakmul Maya ruins and the Calakmul Biosphere Reserve. Calakmul is on the World Heritage Site as a protected place and is full of lush, natural, jungle like environments. The Eco-Hotel has bungalows that sit in the woods just inside the Biosphere and are the closest to the nearby ruins. There is a restaurant, a pool, and all the basic and modern amenities in the rooms you could want. And as you save up for a trip like this, you can do a little research on which credit card is best and may offer you high yield savings that can help you stay in your budget so you can afford your venue choice even though you are looking out of the country at an exotic locale.

The “Place of Frogs”, also known as Guanajuato is a gorgeous colonial style town resting in the mountains of the Sierra de Guanajuato. The Valenciana mine helped to make this town popular with its vast amount of silver which was used to build the city into the beautiful site that it is including the Iglesia de San Cayentano church. It is known as incredibly charming and romantic with its numerous narrow alleyways like Callejon del Beso, or Ally of the Kiss. It is also common that in the evenings choral students wonder the alleyways strumming their guitars and serenading the people. If you are looking for someplace romantic and exotic it may not get more authentic than the town of Guanajuato. So be sure to get a cheap ticket while you can.

Mexico offers many amazing places to visit that can be perfect for a wedding getaway. Family and friends can come to celebrate your union while also enjoying the local towns, and ancient worlds by visiting the ruins. And you can relax with a one of kind wedding held in a romantic and exotic locale that will leave you with amazing memories.

I’m not planning a wedding, but those sound like great places to take a trip anyway.
